The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has been informed by the U.S Food and Drug Administration that PNHC, LLC, d/b/a Heal the World, is recalling all lots of Heal the World hand sanitizer packaged in 9.6 fl. oz because they resemble 9.6ounce water bottles. The recall does not affect any other Hand Sanitizer products from PNHC, LLC and/or Heal the World.
Heal the World hand sanitizer is intended to be applied topically to help reduce bacteria on the skin that could cause diseases when soap and water are not available.
Ingesting hand sanitizer, which is intended for topical use, could potentially result in alcohol toxicity, affect the brain and cause impaired driving or operating heavy machinery. It can also interact with numerous drugs which may result in serious adverse effects.
To date, PNHC, LLC, d/b/a Heal the World has received no reports of adverse reactions and no complaints have been received.

Recommendations
NAFDAC implores importers, distributors, retailers, healthcare providers and patients in possession of the recalled lots of Heal the World hand sanitizer to discontinue sale or use and handover remaining stock to the nearest NAFDAC office.
Health professionals and patients are encouraged to report adverse events or quality problems experienced with the use of the products to the nearest NAFDAC office, NAFDAC PRASCOR or via pharmacovigilance@nafdac.gov.ng or via eReporting platform available on the NAFDAC website www.nafdac.gov.ng or via Med Safety Application available for download on Android and IOS stores.
