Pharm. (Dr) Olakunle Daniel Olaniran holds a B.Sc in Biochemistry from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU,1990) and a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the same prestigious institution in 1997.
He had his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in 2002, a master’s in public health (OAU) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Public Health from Texila American University, having published several research papers that delve into the critical issue of counterfeit drugs in Nigeria.
His previous Internship at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Lagos and early career as a Scientific Officer at Lanpharm Laboratories & Scientific Services Ltd, have equipped him with valuable experience in managing patients’ needs through counselling and Outpatient care as well as in quality control of pharmaceutical products and raw materials respectively.
Dr. Olaniran joined the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in 2000, embarking on a challenging 25-year career that has seen him rise through the ranks from a Senior Regulatory Officer and Desk/Field Officer in various Directorates including The Registration & Regulatory Affairs Directorate, Investigation & Enforcement Directorate, to becoming NAFDAC State Coordinator in Jigawa and Osun States where he spearheaded the Agency’s efforts in these States, leading teams of regulatory officers in inspections, monitoring, and enforcement activities.
He became Port Head at NAHCO/MMIA Lagos overseeing all regulatory activities at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, a crucial entry point for imported goods and thereafter, headed the Chemical, Cosmetics & Medical Devices (CCMD) Division at the Ports Inspection Directorate till his current appointment as Director, Ports Inspection where he superintends over a robust team of staff and systems to manage regulated product import and export through all the nation’s seaports, airports and land borders.
Pharm. (Dr.) Olaniran is happily married and blessed with children.
