Dr Abdulsalam Akande OZIGIS is the current Director for the Federal Capital Territory Office,). Before now, he was the Head, Food Registration & Regulatory Affairs Directorate at Lagos where he was earlier charged with responsibilities of coordinating the Agency’s registration decentralisation for Nano, Micro and Small Enterprises for the purpose of ease of doing business.
He is one of the champions for NAFDAC digitalisation processes and has mentored officers on the effective implementation of regulatory best practices. In addition to different scientific areas of focus, he has actively facilitated the development of different national regulations.
He was a Food and Drug Analyst in NAFDAC laboratories for over a decade and also a Food and Drug Inspector for over 10 years. At various times, he has served as Head, Food Inspection Division at the Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (FSAN), Directorate NAFDAC, Lagos. Head, Monitoring & Evaluation Division, Planning Research and Statistics (PRS) Directorate, NAFDAC – Abuja. Head, Imported Food and Feeds, Food Registration & Regulatory Affairs, NAFDAC, Lagos. He has also served in the past as the Special Adviser in the office of Director General – NAFDAC, Abuja
He is skilled in the implementation and audit of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Risk Analysis, Management & Communication. In addition, In the past, he has coordinated and implemented some national and international projects including but not limited to the GAIN – Nigeria Food fortification project, coordination of the implementation of International Code of Breast Milk Substitute and UNICEF Zonal Independent Monitoring of Vitamin A Supplementation. He is a friend of babies and a passionate breastmilk feeding advocate.
